We have a great opportunity for a Hire Controller to work in the central plant hire desk and facilitate orders for owned plant and hired plant for Volker Laser, Volker Fitzpatrick and Volker Highways. These businesses are your internal customers.

This is a wide ranging role and the goal is to ensure smooth operational delivery and performance for sites. Duties will include offering or facilitating specialist advice, resolution of queries, helping with `rush jobs' and emergencies, ensuring VW are compliant to health and safety regulation and VW policies, and recording information on the system to allow good management information and a reduction in invoice queries.

About you

  • Previous experience operating as a hire controller is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of construction and/ or plant is required
  • Computer literate and comfortable to use Microsoft office software and Microsoft Dynamics 4PS system
  • This role is a customer (internal) facing role so therefore good people skills and a positive, upbeat personality is essential
  • The successful candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and prioritise and juggle workload when there are multiple tasks
  • Good problem solving skills are required because due to the complexity of the tasks involved the individual will need to be able to question and find solutions
