We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to take the lead on our vessel, Beinn Sgritheall. Beinn Sgritheall is a dedicated net cleaning boat for the Company’s seawater site at Loch Hourn. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities.

If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a two week on/two week off rotational basis, providing an excellent work/life balance opportunity. Accommodation is available for the successful candidate whilst on shift.

About the job

This role is a crucial part of the operations process. We need our employees to strive for continuous improvement. The job includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maintaining the vessel to a high standard, ensuring full compliance at all times to workboat code and certification
  • Work closely with the Farm Managers to provide the most efficient service to the site
  • Ensuring nets on site are cleaned and maintained to a high standard
  • Maintaining a net cleaning routine
  • Managing the maintenance of engines, machinery and equipment on board the vessel
  • Ensuring bio-security records are kept up-to-date
  • Other general farm duties

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.

  • Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided
  • Certification to operate a vessel up to 24 metres, day and night
  • You will be required to hold, or able to obtain, and retain an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
  • Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons
