Summary

We are Manchester and Trafford Local Care Organisation - a public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. We’re driven by the aim of improving the health of local people in Manchester by working across organisational boundaries.
An opportunity has arisen to join our exciting and innovative team of nurses in the IV team. Since being established in 2013 the team has grown into a city wide service and enabled many patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes whilst receiving IV treatment or subcutaneous hydration that would have otherwise required a hospital admission.
We not only prevent hospital admission but also facilitate early discharge. Not only has home IV therapy been shown to be a cost efficient way of treating patients, but that the patient experience is greatly enhanced as people are able to carry on with their lives and avoid the disruption that can be caused by a hospital admission. It also means that hospital beds are freed up for those patients who are not able to receive treatment elsewhere.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated and experienced member of staff to take on the day to day management of the team and its workload. You must have at least 4 years post registration experience with 2 year at Band 6 or above and a minimum of 6 months experience working within a community IV team. You need to be confident and competent in intravenous therapy, cannulation, venepuncture and patient assessment and have experience looking after long term intravascular access devices. As a team leader you need to be someone who can motivate others and who has experience of implementing new ideas and driving new ways of working.

The service is continuing to evolve with some exciting new ways of working in the pipeline so further development of the scope of the service, data collection and evaluation will be an important part of your role. In order to continue to raise the profile of the service you will be networking with clinicians from both primary and secondary multi-disciplinary teams therefore excellent communication skills are essential.
