We are recruiting for a Continuous Improvement Analyst to join Tarmac. In this role you will be adopting and promoting Continuous improvement mindsets and behaviours, you will drive and influence the development and implementation of national best practice within contracting businesses. You will be based at our Tarmac Office close to Birmingham Airport in the West Midlands. This role is commutable by either car or train from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hinkley, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Stourbridge, Oldbury, West Bromwich, Walsall, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Lichfield, Aldridge, Willenhall, Kenilworth, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

The Continuous Improvement Analyst reports to the Senior Contracting Performance Manager, you will work across the business wide Continuous Improvement and asset optimisation projects.

The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills. Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):

  • Identifying trends and areas for improvement to deliver against targets and budgets, whilst also identifying opportunity for improvement within contracting processes
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to project performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), productivity metrics, and cost-efficiency measures
  • Engage with all levels of the Business to identify improvement opportunities and champion and implement national initiatives ensuring use of CI tools to enable business improvements
  • Identify bottlenecks and barriers to productivity and develop solutions
  • Support in driving the contracting business towards a continuous improvement culture, standardization, best practice sharing, and implementation of lean methodologies, allowing for the generation of new ideas
  • Support the implementation of process changes, system enhancements, and technology solutions to drive operational excellence and performance improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develop performance dashboards, scorecards, and reports to track progress against improvement goals and objectives
  • Communicate findings through standardised and insightful reporting to the Regional/Business teams to Interpret business performance commercial data and tracking of key variances (Volume, Comparison to tender margins) and develop appropriate measures to ensure expected results are delivered
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on continuous improvement concepts, tools, and methodologies

Business Managing Directors - Finance Management Team – Business Directors – Business Management Teams – Optimisation Team – Commercial Teams -

You will hold a FULL UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant in the role will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture. You will have experience as a Continuous Improvement Analyst within an Infrastructure, Construction, Manufacturing or heavy engineering industry, this experience will be an essential requirement for this role.

Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:

  • Excellent analytical background - Relevant role related degree or qualifications would prove highly beneficial
  • Analytical / accounting experience in large multi-site, construction or manufacturing businesses
  • Demonstrable understanding of the business dynamics, controls and processes
  • Knowledge of modelling and reporting tools - SAP, Anaplan, Excel, Power BI, etc
  • Excellent system, reporting and communication skills
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • A proven track record of delivery of key control information and contribution to improvement action plans
  • Lean Training would be beneficial
