James Mae Industries Ltd is seeking a talented individual to join our special purpose machinery design team. You will play a pivotal role in the design and development of advanced automated systems from concept to final design, predominantly within the food industry.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at James Mae Industries Ltd, you will be instrumental in driving projects that innovate and refine our automated solutions along with improving existing designs. Your expertise will ensure our designs meet both business and customer requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness and adhering to British Standards.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Minimum HNC qualified in a relevant mechanical discipline or significant industry experience
• Proficient in all technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special-purpose machinery, ideally gained in a similar environment
• Experience in a multi-skilled environment, including knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components.
• Experience with robotics
• Experience in the food industry
• Essential: 3D CAD design experience (SolidWorks preferred)
• Desirable: 2D CAD experience (AutoCAD)
• Ability to deliver quality information within deadlines
• A team player with the ability to work independently
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to interpret numerical data
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

What will your role look like?

• Manage your workload to meet project schedules and objectives.
• Communicate project status effectively to the Technical Director and drawing office team
• Use third-party/supplier software to calculate specific requirements.
• Implement company and external standards, understanding BS/ISO applications
• Review and check the work done by others
• Conduct risk assessments of machinery
• Occasionally visit sites within the UK

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday 08.00 – 17.00 ( 30 mins for lunch) Flexible if required.

Friday 08.00 – 14.00 (no lunch) Flexible if required.

Training /Development

Employees are encouraged to seek new skills either by specialist courses or if agreed day release courses.
