Summary

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who feels passionate about working within the Recovery Model to join our dynamic community mental health service. You will be based within one of our Community Recovery Teams, in a Trust with a strong recovery focus and a commitment to work with our communities to shape our service delivery. By joining us, you will also become part of the wider Integrated Mental Health Occupational Therapy service in Newham and join over 300 Occupational Therapists working in the organisation! ELFT is a great place to build your Occupational Therapy career.

You will be working alongside Occupational Therapists and Technicians delivering high quality and meaningful interventions. You will be expected to offer assessments, brief interventions as well as more specialist interventions, all build around what holds meaning to the individual. You will also need experience in facilitating groups and be confident in delivering OT interventions to individuals with complex needs.

We also value a robust supervision structure and as part of this you will supervise an OT Technician as well as Peer Support Workers.

Although this role is for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, we welcome conversations about individuals who might be interested in a developmental post as they transition from Band 5. Please reach out to us to discuss further. As we also have a Band 6 rotation, there are various development opportunities by joining our team.

The purpose of this role is to be an active member of the Integrated Occupational Therapy team. Primarily, the role is to provide an Occupational Therapy Service for community mental health service users of the CRT.

The role has particular focus on service users’ recovery and social inclusion goals, via both individual and group work and across settings. There are no care-co-ordination responsibilities, but where appropriate, Occupational Therapists might take on the role as keyworker. The success of the post-holder will be measured by service user outcomes and satisfaction as well as the degree to which OT input supports service users to move on from requiring active mental health care support.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
• To provide Occupational Therapy input as part of a Community Mental Health Recovery Team
• To provide one to one as well as group sessions
• To supervise and support non-registered staff and students
