An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Patient Safety Team as Patient Safety Engagement Specialist/ Investigator.

Reporting to the Quality Improvement and Investigations Lead, as part of the wider Patient Safety Team, this post is responsible for delivery of the Trust’s Quality Strategy and vision to ensure ‘Excellent Care for all’ through the delivery of safe, effective and high quality services, that ensure the people who use our services, their families, carers and visitors receive a positive experience. There will be a test/presentation at interview.

Under the direction of the Quality Improvement & Investigations Lead the post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise to support the engagement and involvement of those affected by patient safety incidents. This will include gathering the data for Duty of Candour compliance and the completion of Duty of Candour as required. The Engagement Specialist will actively engage with patients, families, carers and staff to seek input into the learning response to develop a shared understanding of what happened. He/she is also expected to provide compassionate engagement that prioritises and respects the needs of people who have been affected by serious patient safety events.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.

These include:
• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital
• The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
• A minor injuries unit in New Addington
