Summary

This post will involve offering specialist assessments, formulations and psychological interventions to children/young people, parents/carers/family and multi-agency colleagues, consultation to and joint working with others, and training of other qualified staff.

Specialist assessments also include cognitive and adaptive functioning assessments and autism assessments. There are exciting initiatives underway including development of a Systemic Family Clinic and opportunities to contribute to patient and carer involvement projects.

There is strong multi-disciplinary working within the service and the contribution of psychological services staff (including both Clinical Psychology and Music Therapy) is highly valued. Successful applicants will receive excellent support and regular, good quality supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development. We have well-established links with the Coventry and Warwick Doctoral Training courses in Clinical Psychology.

The job will require travel across the Trust so car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport arrangements will be required to enable you to undertake the job. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.

To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, using complex psychological data gained from a variety of sources.

To ensure the systematic provision of psychological services, including the responsibility to prioritise work appropriately.

To communicate assessment results, formulations, outcome data, and other complex and sensitive information orally and in written form in order to support the work of multi-disciplinary colleagues.

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, consultation and supervision to other professionals and staff contributing to the formulation,diagnosis, treatment plans and management of clients, both within and outside the Trust.

To contribute to the development of Learning Disability services, reviewing service outcomes, designing and participating in audit, research and clinical governance initiatives, and working cooperatively with colleagues to achieve service goals and maximise service effectiveness. This will involve communication with a wide range of clinical and managerial colleagues, within and outside the Trust.

To provide supervision to assistant psychologists, volunteers and other colleagues, as required.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust provides a full range of expanding physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults and older adults over many sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

Services are provided to a population of over one million people living in Coventry and Warwickshire and also a wider geographical area in some of our specialist services

We are a specialist multidisciplinary Learning Disability CAMH service (LD CAMHS). We are moving towards using Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) as our primary therapeutic model. Our team works closely with families, special schools and respite units to help improve the quality of life for children and their families.

This is an exciting time to be working in learning disability services within the framework of Transforming Care for children and as our team continues to develop.

LD CAMHS cover the whole of Coventry and Warwickshire with bases in Coventry, Nuneaton, Rugby, Leamington, and Stratford.

Our team sits within the new Learning Disability and Autism directorate and has strong links with the large psychological services group in Rise (Coventry and Warwickshire emotional wellbeing service).

There will be opportunities for Continual Professional Development and regular clinical supervision will be offered by the Lead Clinical Psychologist.
