Summary


If you are an Occupational Therapist at B6 level, or an experienced, resourceful, and forward-thinking B5 OT - please apply for this post as CMHT Walworth’s Occupational Therapist.

CMHT Walworth is a multidisciplinary team working with clients based in the North areas of Southwark, living with varying conditions in Mental Health, as well as Mood and Personality Disorders. The team works collectively to support clients with their recovery goals. The post holder will be enthusiastic about this client group and committed to working with both a recovery and rehabilitation approach. They will have the opportunity to work with service users in a variety of community-based settings. This role provides opportunities to develop assessment and intervention skills, assess for and provide adaptive equipment to promote independent function, and to work collaboratively with team members to achieve rewarding results for their clients.

The team is based at the Chaucer Resource Centre in Rotherhithe (equidistant to Canada Water, and Surrey Quays, with good transport links)



The successful OT applicant will be anchored by a supportive network of community and inpatient OTs, have access to peer working sessions with OTs from Adult Social Care; and will be encouraged to seek out opportunities to enrich their continued professional development across all areas of their practice. Through co-production and client-led interventions, the post holder will enable individuals to access community services that provide leisure activities, academic and vocational courses, and volunteering opportunities; supporting them to harness more meaning and purpose in their daily living.

Job Purpose:

To work in collaboration with a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational interventions.

· To ensure service users recovery goals and plans are at the centre of occupational therapy practice and foster the skills and confidence of people to enable them to live as independently as possible.

· To support Promoting Recovery team Care Coordinators through the provision of occupationally focused assessments, formulation of service users’ needs and intervention plans.

· To contribute to the development of Recovery and Support plans, including relapse and crisis management plans.

· To take a leading role in supporting service users with physical health needs as a Trusted Assessor and interfacing with London Borough of Southwark Occupational Therapy colleagues to provide a continuity of care including the prescription of minor aids and adaptations.

· To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.

· To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.

· To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy/ multidisciplinary services, holding responsibility for defined/delegated projects.

· To carry out multidisciplinary activities as requested e.g. generic assessments and duty responsibilities.
