The Parcelforce National/International Hub based at Coventry Hub is one of largest in the UK and processes c250,000 domestic and international items on the night shift alone. To support the smooth running of the night shift, we have a vacancy for a Senior Shift Manager who is responsible for leading the shift and full accountability for H&S, quality of service, productivity, automation optimisation, employee and financial targets.

About the role


As Senior Shift Manager, you’ll be accountable for the clearance of all Parcelforce National and International products on the shift, ensuring operational deadlines are achieved, shift budget/cost targets are met and a full handover to the early shift is completed. You’ll co-ordinate and maintain resource planning activities, taking into account the traffic forecast, staff attendance, ensuring a fully skilled resource is aligned to workload and play a vital role in planning for seasonal volume fluctuations within the Hub, ensuring all plans are communicated and reviewed regularly.

With line manager responsibility for 4 direct/15 indirect reports, you’ll review performance and development, deal with HR matters to include conduct, attendance, performance reviews and deliver coaching plans where required. Key to the role will be the undertaking of health and safety responsibilities, to include the co-ordination of risk assessment processes, and ensuring that the shift works in accordance with all health and safety legislation and policies.

Attendance

Monday to Thursday 17:00 – 03:00. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational demands. The role is entitled to an night allowanace for hours worked from 20.00 - 06.00.

About you


We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager with a visible and supportive leadership style, who can hit the ground running and motivate a team to achieve KPIs.


You need to demonstrate the following on your CV:
• Experience of management in large teams within a busy operational site.
• Ability to motivate, performance manage, coach and develop direct reports.
• Experience of successful negotiations with staff, unions and all other stakeholders.
• High level of communication skills both written and oral.
• Good standard of basic computer use including excel and word, data analysis and reporting.
• Experience of cost control budget, unit cost targets and variable cost against volume fluctuations.
• A track record of implementing major change.
