Summary

Specialist programme expertise and evaluation Working with the Assistant Director for Evaluation, Business Intelligence and Impact to take the lead in identifying machine learning and AI approaches to meet business needs. Evaluate outputs, formulate and present analytical data visualisations for future reporting developments for NIHR Academy Provide theoretical and practical knowledge of Business Intelligence Architecture including Extract, Transform and Load (ETL), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), Data Warehousing and Data Modelling to team members Provide reports to an agreed standard to meet the requirements of NIHR Academy Executive Board Provide support and contribute to the formulation of strategies into how data quality and integrity can be maintained as part of business improvement plans which affect the organisation Review, manage and lead the development of data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop) and analysis of data to ensure accuracy of sources and data resilience Communications and Engagement Identify and understand the business needs, prioritise, and design analytical tools and processes to meet those needs. Working with Assistant Director for Evaluation Business Intelligence and Impact take a leading role communicating highly complex and sensitive information relating to machine learning and AI developments in line with new national initiatives. Present data science analysis and developments other national NIHR programmes, wider NIHR, Department of Health and Social Care staff, other key funders of health and social care research and the academic community as necessary Liaise with other national NIHR programmes, wider NIHR, Department of Health and Social Care staff, other key funders of health and social care research and the academic community as necessary Deliver presentations to national NIHR stakeholder groups and relevant conferences Act as a representative for NIHR Academy and NIHR more widely at NIHR and DHSC meetings, workshops, and conferences, where necessary Work closely with the wider NIHR Academy Evaluation Business Intelligence and Impact team to ensure that they have sufficient data and tools to be able to respond quickly to Information Requests and long-term analytics Technical Provide advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of data architecture and data base design to support data modelling and the development of analytical data visualisation dashboards and reporting. Be/Act as the domain expert for machine learning and AI, understand what insights can be delivered for the organisation and in national NIHR stakeholder groups Plan, organise and implement a range of complex projects appropriate to the role using agile or waterfall project management methods Information Resources To design and develop automated reporting processes to gain maximum benefits from using data science methodologies such as machine learning, natural language processing and AI. Provide technical configuration for virtual machines, algorithm deployment etc including security and access roles. Co-ordinates production of analysis, publications, datasets, documentation and briefings Evaluate, re-design and develop automated reporting processes to gain maximum benefits from machine learning and AI methods which will benefit the organisation Ensure the NIHR Academy Executive is up to date with developments in appropriate technologies Evaluate and propose changes to the machine learning and AI standard operating procedures to ensure they are up to date and aligned with policies Finance Authorised signatory within devolved limits agreed for the post Responsible for monitoring expensive IT equipment and providing appropriate software recommendations
