Job summary
This post requires a Biomedical Scientist who is registered with HCPC and has experience working within Haematology and Blood Transfusion. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out analytical and technical investigations, shadowing other Biomedical Scientists, and working closely with clinical staff to ensure prompt action is taken with abnormal results. The role will require the post holder to rotate between the various departments and work across all three laboratory sites - Morriston Hospital, Singleton Hospital, and Princess of Wales Hospital. To maintain professional development and competency, the post holder will be required to engage in training and other CPD activities.
Main duties of the job

You will use your knowledge and skills as a Biomedical Scientist to contribute to a robust and fully operational system within Laboratory Medicine. You will assist in building a strong team and support the Senior Biomedical Scientists to enable continual improvements in the various departments. An understanding of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management is desirable.
Your duties as a Biomedical Scientist will include performing a range of scientific procedures involving the processing of specimens to contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and investigation of pathological processes.
You will be required to;
- Support and advise laboratory support worker colleagues.
- Prioritise investigations in accordance to clinical need, ensuring optimum turnaround for urgent requests.
- Manage emergency requests, single or multiple.
- Liaise with IT and specialist equipment suppliers to resolve system or equipment failures
- To respond to Major incident procedures should the need arise.
- Once competent, train other new staff and trainees.
- Be comfortable with solo working
Essential
BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree
Health and Care Professional Council registration
Good Communication skills
Excellent knowledge on QMS
Good knowledge of the role of Biomedical Scientists
Desirable
Laboratory Experience - Within the UK or Outside
Worked as part of a Multidisciplinary Team
Analytical and practical knowledge
Experience in training
