Summary


The role is currently fixed term locum post for consultant radiologist with a potential to move to substantive role subject to Royal College approval.

The Non Specific Symptom (NSS) Clinical Leadwill provide clinical leadership and management of all NSS aspects of the Community Diagnostic Service for QVH/ Sussex Services, including; NSS testing and pathway development.

The Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH) will act as a hub for the Sussex NSS pathway. Referrals will be received from GPs across Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB), and the population of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SaSH). Collaboration between Sussex and Surrey Heartlands ICBs, acute providers, SaSH, and Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance (SSCA) will be required to achieve this objective.

2 PA weekly, no on call requirement.

On a sessional basis you will be engaging directly with clinical, medical and nursing teams in the management of patents, providing specialist advice, skills leadership, collaboration and consultancy.

You will work closely with the NSS team, actively contributing to the overall management and strategic direction of the service.

You will also work closely with primary care colleagues and other disciplines including the NSS pathway Clinical Service Manager.

The role will work closely with the CDC operational team through to CDC Project Board, working with other clinical leaders, primary care and Independent Sector partners.

The CDC must be an effective resource for the clinicians/AHPs (and their respective Partnerships/ Practices) delivering the pathway redesign, triaging and a timely reporting service, as well as acting in a support and advisory role for the clinical team.

The CDC will be patient and referrer focused, working to ensure people who use CDC services are treated in a timely manner, safely, with respect and that they receive a high quality service.

With the Operations and Governance teams, the CDC will be primarily responsible for the management, review of performance of the clinical outcomes, including the ensuring achievement of the agreed activity levels, with a consistent approach in improving quality of care and service delivery.

To be a highly visible leader of the clinical activities of the organisation, with the authority to develop operational processes and policies as required.

To provide expert advice to the CDC Project Board and the Executive Team on all appropriate clinical issues, delivering KPI targets, whilst ensuring the best care and service offered to patients and referrers.

To ensure that the clinical delivery of services supports the strategic objectives and to maintain safe and effective service delivery.

To ensure all services and employees act within the regulations and the legal responsibilities with respect to Non Specific Symptom services.

To develop and have a leadership role in the delivery of CDC-specific imaging related education and research for the CDC network involving allied healthcare professional groups.
