Summary


We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified ambitious and motivated individual to join our highly skilled and friendly team of radiographers, delivering excellent patient care at Barts Health NHS Trust.

This band 6 radiographer position will be based at The Royal London Hospital site of Barts Health which is located in the historical, vibrant and diverse east end of London.

The Royal London Hospital is home to the London Air Ambulance, is one of the capital’s leading trauma and stroke centres and houses one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK. Mile End hospital is undergoing an exciting transformation to become a community diagnostic and early diagnosis centre.

The imaging department at both hospitals has state of the art equipment throughout and provides a varied rotation through different modalities and specialities, including an expectation to participate in the out of hours system.

As a major teaching hospital, we pride ourselves on our commitment to career and professional development including mentorship, radiographer reporting, radiographer led line insertions in Interventional Radiology, sonographer training and sonographer ACP.

Applicants for this post must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers. Applicants must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will contribute to the safe and effective running of the imaging department and can perform a wide range of X-ray examinations to a high standard. The post holder will be required to rotate through ED, general X-ray, outpatient X-ray, peadiatric X-ray, fluoroscopy, theatres, dental imaging, and CT.

They will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service. The post holder will offer supervision to band 5 radiographers, assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students/apprentices, and visitors to the imaging department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day imaging. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience.

The post holder at all times will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act in accordance with the HCPC standards of proficiency. Furthermore, they are expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect and open, honest communication.
