Summary


We are looking for enthusiastic applicants who would like to work in a busy and supportive environment ensuring that our operating theatres and clinic areas are supplied with the necessary sterile equipment to deliver excellent perioperative patient care.

The collection of used instrumentation from theatres, wards and clinics.

Duties include lifting and carrying the instrument trays, and pushing/pulling transportation trolleys as part of this role.

Checking of used items from theatres, wards, clinics, and external customers.

Liaising with clinical areas and the PCH Sterile Services department to ensure they are supplied with the correct instrumentation each day.

Delivery of sterile packs to theatres, wards, clinics, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

The post holder will carry out the following duties:-
• The collection of used instrumentation from theatres, wards and clinics.
• Duties include lifting and carrying the instrument trays, and pushing/pulling transportation trolleys as part of this role.
• Checking of used items from theatres, wards, clinics, and external customers.
• Delivery of sterile packs to theatres, wards, clinics, etc.
• Adhering to dress codes, and working to strict environmental conditions.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained and Health & Safety regulations are complied with.
• Reporting any operational, or production problems to line manager.
• Any other duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and that are to the skill level achieved after training,

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• The postholder must be able to demonstrate an ability to work on their own initiative with the minimum of supervision after training, and be able to work with other members of staff within the department.
• The post holder must be able to undertake manual handling of large instrument trays, pushing/pulling of instrumentation trolleys at regular intervals during their shifts.
• Good telephone manner and able to relay messages to the line manager as required.
• They must be flexible in their required hours of work to cover annual leave, sickness and operational emergency situations that could arise (appendix A).
• Although the postholders base of work will be Hinchingbrooke, they may be required to work at Peterborough Hospital on occasion.
