Summary

Are you looking for an excellent development programme? At North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, you will find the best opportunities for career development and training.

We are looking for an experienced Trust Grade FY2 to join the Trauma and Orthopaedics team based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon on a full-time basis. Cross site work at Peterborough City Hospital will be required while on on-call. In addition, there will be many opportunities to complete bank shifts at Peterborough City Hospital to gain Trauma experience.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital is the main elective Orthopaedic site for the Trust, while Peterborough City Hospital is the hot Trauma site with some specialised elective theatre lists.

In collaboration with the team, you will provide high quality patient care to inpatients, deliver pre-operative assessment of patients, and assist in elective theatres.

You will have full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice.

Teaching and training are important for us. You will enjoy excellent hands-on experiences to learn surgical and clinical skills in both cold orthopaedics and minor trauma.

You will join a team of 7 Junior Doctors and 4 Nurse Practitioners who support the doctors with routine ward work as well as pre-operative assessment.

During the on-call shifts, you will work alongside the on call SPR who is resident during the day and non-resident overnight, unless called in. You will also be supported by the On Call Consultant who is based at Peterborough.

The Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors undertake elective lists and outpatient sessions each week while the FY2 or ST Doctors are expected to clerk the patients for those lists. Ward rounds are included in the weekly schedule. Your role will fit into going on ward rounds and supporting consultants when there is a deficit of doctors on the ward.

There are regular monthly medical audit meetings. You will ensure that all data collection and processing undertaken is consistently accurate and timely and complies with the Trust Data Quality Policy and local procedures.

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust provides acute care to our local communities via two District General Hospitals in Peterborough and Huntingdon, and a community hospital in Stamford.

We are promoting flexible working and a health work/home life balance. Agile working options are automatically considered for all roles within the Trust.

We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and candidates from our local communities.

Your package with us includes a lot more than just your pay and here are a few of the additional benefits that are available to you as an employee:

• Relocation allowance in line with the Trust policy

• Career development and training opportunities

• Free staff car parking on all our hospital sites during this financial year

• Access to the NHS Pension Scheme

• Generous Holiday Entitlement, starting at 27 days a year (for full time workers) plus bank/public holidays

• In-house Physiotherapy Services

• Emotional Wellbeing Service covering a range of online support, access to mobile apps and 24/7 counselling services

• Subsidised meals at our hospital restaurants

• Access to exclusive discounts, cashback and vouchers via NHS Discounts and Blue Light Card

As an FY2 doctor you will be expected to provide support to consultant and middle grade colleagues - helping to support in theatres and the wards as well as providing on call cover.

If you wish to discuss the post informally or arrange a visit, please contact Mr A. Dwyer, Orthopaedic Consultant atamitabhdwyer@nhs.netor tel. 01480 442822.
