Runshaw College has long been recognised as one of the most successful colleges in the country, renowned locally and nationally for our exceptional results, friendly and supportive culture and focus on putting the learner at the heart of all that we do.
Our shared vision provides the focus for our work: to be a Great Place to Study, a Great Place to Work, and a Great Place for Partnerships and the Community. Please see the Strategic Plan on the college website, for full details of our vision and objectives.
The Runshaw College Supported Internship programme is a partnership between DFN Project Search, Progress Housing, Lancashire County Council and the Department for Work and Pensions.
A Supported Internship Programme is designed for young people aged 16-24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The goal of this programme is to support the transition from education to a position of paid employment (16+ hours per week) and lasts for one academic year.
We are looking to appoint an Employability Coach to work on the programme and to provide the vital training and support the interns will require.
The goal of the job of an Employability Coach is to ensure that the people we support:
• Have the opportunity to develop relevant skills for employment
• Gain work experience in a large business
• Increase their independence
• Achieve their aspirations
• Are empowered to make decisions and choices around their future employment
• Are kept safe
Runshaw College has adopted the Project SEARCH as an initiative which is aimed at young people with learning disabilities to develop and acquire relevant skills needed for the workplace, to gain work experience, and be supported to find long term paid employment. The Employability Coach will provide support during the on-site work placements for young people with learning disabilities (interns) within Progress Housing (Leyland).
The main responsibility of the Employability Coach is to enable young people with a learning disability to secure a real job either with the host employer or externally with another employer. The post holder’s performance in the role is assessed using this purpose. The Employability Coach role supports the intern over a period of one academic year by providing specific work experience opportunities within the host business, as they gain skills relevant for employment.
The Employability Coach additionally provides follow-on support to the same group of interns to access long term employment either with the host employer or elsewhere as a key outcome of the role.
The Employability Coach also provides support to the interns, business colleagues, and families/carers, to ensure successful skill learning and assimilation into the work environment. We very much look forward to receiving your application.
Whilst this role is full-time, it can be delivered by more than one individual, making it the perfect opportunity for those seeking part-time positions.
Closing date for this post is 12 noon, Friday 14th June 2024
