Summary


To provide daily operational management to the Patient Services Team, including controlling rotas and resources, lead on PLACE and NAPF audit compliance, internal and external inspections, ensure training compliance, and oversee supervisory line management for Patient Services Assistants.

To be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service, to ensure there is continuity of supervision and Service management when it is required..

Ensuring that the Trust cleanliness schedules and performance meet the required national specifications and all areas are cleaned to expected and agreed standards

This role reports directly to the Patient Services Manager, and will manage all Patient services daily operational activity at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, and on other Trust sites as necessary.

Daily management of the Patient Services Team, ensuring that resource is fully deployed across ELHT to meet the required national standards.

o Lead and direct the Patient Services Supervisors to ensure that Patient Services are delivered efficiently and effectively and that all relevant national specifications and standards are adhered to.

o Develop the role of Patient Services Supervisor, to ensure all staff members receive appropriate support and training necessary to deliver the required standard.

o Ensure all Patient Services Supervisors are conducting the relevant audits within the required timeframe, and quality assure all audits to assess whether standards are being met and to identify any service development needs.

o Prepare reports for the manager in relation to cleaning standards.

o Carry out inspection of the wards, regular monitoring of the wards and departments.

o Check the security of domestic services equipment including the security within the department, the issuing and returning of keys.

o Liaise with wards and managers to ensure that the service delivered meets the needs of the Trust. Addressing complaints and taking adhoc requests, and delivering solutions to meet requirements.

o Control and monitor rotas to ensure service delivery and continuity at all times.

o Responsible for the selection, recruitment, training and development of staff in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, and overseen by the Patient Services Manager.

o Maintain appropriate staff records and set Personal Development Plans for Staff as part of the annual appraisal cycle. Ensuring all staff have a relevant and up to date appraisal on the Learning Hub.

o Authorise annual leave, compassionate leave, and special leave.

o Management of sickness absence, ensuring that all return to work interviews, first stage reviews and monitoring reviews are completed by Patient Services Supervisors.

o Completion of second stage sickness absence reviews and monitoring. Management of long term sickness absence cases where required.

o Management of NAPF and PLACE audits on behalf of Patient Services.

o Manage access and updates to appropriate electronic systems.

o Provide performance management for supervisory team to ensure standards are maintained.

o Ensure timely completion of Incident Reports and provision of responses to reported
