A Vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.


The emphasis of this post will be on both elective surgery and outpatient bookings, following patients through the whole 18-week pathway. You will be expected to effectively lead on appropriate plans to identify and escalate gaps in capital/revenue items and help support the development of projects relating to these gaps.

You will work as part of the management team and be responsible for the administrative and clerical team to coordinate the administrative RTT pathway for patients and work with the General Manager, Service Manager, waiting list coordinators, Pathway Validator and secretarial team ensuring there is effective cooperation between departments involved in the delivery of services for the RTT pathway and cancer.

You will be actively involved in service improvement programmes to streamline the patient pathways and improve the quality of patient care. You will also support and coordinate on strategic plans for services.
1. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the surgical department, ensuring that all procedures are running smoothly and efficiently.
2. Managing and coordinating the schedules of surgical staff, including surgeons, nurses, and support staff, to ensure adequate coverage and timely patient care.
3. Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices in surgical care.
4. Monitoring and managing the department's budget, including expenses related to equipment, supplies, and staffing, to ensure financial sustainability.
5. Working closely with surgeons and other clinical staff to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and optimise patient outcomes.
6. Collaborating with other hospital departments, such as Theatres radiology, and nursing, to coordinate care for surgical patients and ensure seamless transitions between services.
7. Providing leadership and guidance to surgical staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.
8. Participating in quality improvement initiatives, such as patient safety programs and performance improvement projects, to enhance the quality of care provided in the surgical department.
9. Serving as a liaison between the surgical department and hospital administration, communicating operational needs, challenges, and opportunities to support the overall strategic goals of the organisation.
