Summary

Ensures that the operational resources, staff and vehicles, operating out of the locality meet the levels as determined by the Operations Centre. Reporting variances that occur with recommendations to address shortfalls. 1.2. Ensures that maintenance of the required level of consumables/equipment to maintain the operational locality viability. 1.3. Occasionally, on the instruction of the PTS Operations Manager, assess a patients mobility to ensure that the correct mode of transport is provided. 1.4. Bring to managements attention areas of work, including patient care, where further risk assessments are required. 1.5. Attend meetings as requested and undertake action points where necessary. 1.6. Ensures the accurate maintenance of all records as required by the Service. 1.7. Monitors the performance of Operational Staff in the delivery of the Contract, apply corrective action measures and recommending further action, if appropriate. 1.8. Deal with complaints from patients, members of the public and staff when required. 1.9. Maintain and update personal files for new and existing staff and assist with the Induction of new staff. 1.10. Check driving licences for all members of staff on a yearly basis. 1.11. Process annual leave requests for members of staff. 1.12. Monitor staff sickness, conduct Return To Work Interviews and Sickness Counsellings when necessary. 1.13. Ensure staffs record of timekeeping and payments are correct. 1.14. Conduct Vehicle Accident Panel Interviews. 1.15. Where appropriate, ensure that clinical waste is tagged and bagged ready for collection and disposal. 1.16. Produce monthly Quality Information for the attention of the PTS Operations Manager. 1.17. In liaison with the Operations Centre and the Liaison Assistants, ensures the most effective deployment of locality resources. 1.18. Ensures adherence to the Code of Conduct, Operational Instructions, WMAS Quality Procedures. 1.19. Participation, either as a solo or as part of a crew, in the provision of care, assistance and support as appropriate to patients with impaired mobility or any other physical or mental handicap. 1.20. The lifting and carrying of patients, e.g., up and down stairs, in and out of their homes, to and from the Ambulance and the loading of patients in and out of the Ambulance using stretchers or other lifting devices. 1.21. The transfer of patients from bed to stretcher, or chair to chair, or similar, both within and out of hospitals. 1.22. Effective use of equipment supplied to offer treatment appropriate to the patients need, and the individuals level of training, using techniques or skills as necessary. To include the administration of oxygen and analgesic to patients in line with the West Midlands Ambulance Service protocols. 1.23. Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant traffic legislations and driving with consideration for other road users. 1.24. The handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres and responsible relatives upon return home, or ensuring, as far as is practical, the safety, comfort and well-being of persons living alone. 1.25. Ensure that patients belongings, valuables and medication, where appropriate, are looked after and handed over to a responsible person as far as is practicable. 1.26. Undertake the transport of babies in incubators under the supervision of a qualified person. 1.27. Liaise with the PTS Operations Centre in relation to route planning and any on the day changes/alterations to patients journeys. This may be by the use of radio or electrical data transfer. 1.28. Ensure that vehicles under their control attend for service and MOT. Also ensure that drivers Defective Vehicle Reports are actioned. 1.29.
