Summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Internal Audit & Risk Management team as a Principal Auditor. This is advertised as a full-time role (37 hours per week) with flexible working and the opportunity to work from home c. 4 days per week (if desired), but we would also consider requests for part-time working for the right candidate.

This is a great opportunity to continue to develop your leadership career in local government, within a forward-thinking and inventive Internal Audit team, working within an innovative and supportive County Council. You will take responsibility for reviewing and evaluating a wide range of organisational functions and services including: finance; social care; major infrastructure projects; high-value contracts; and complex partnership and joint working arrangements including the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and NHS partners. The Internal Audit team also provides advice and consultancy services across the Council, with the aim of adding value and improving organisational governance, risk management and control. At Cambridgeshire County Council, Internal Audit has a pivotal role in helping the organisation manage risks and is a positive catalyst for change.

The team is based at our newly constructed civic headquarters at New Shire Hall in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, and operates a hybrid/flexible working policy. There is the opportunity to work remotely as well as from our central base at New Shire Hall, and some travel is likely to be required to other Cambridgeshire offices and schools.
