Summary


The post holder will act as an Occupational therapist for the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team. They will carry out evidence based Occupational Therapy assessments and write reports of a high standard, which highlight how biological, sociological and psychological factors interact to create barriers to the satisfactory participation of an individual service user in their valued life roles. They will define and deliver therapeutic intervention plans (including occupational recovery groups) and recommendations aimed at improving participation and recovery in life roles.
• To manage a defined caseload of service users within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, with complex mental health needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate OT interventions.
• The post holder will receive supervision and support from the team manager, senior practitioners and from the senior practitioner for Older Adult Occupational therapy in their assessment, analysis, case formulation and treatment planning
• To provide OT professional advice for MDT staff, junior OT staff and support staff.
• To provide supervision to junior OT and support staff.
• To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the OT service within the older adult CMHT, holding responsibility for defined projects.
• To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on fieldwork placement.
• To abide by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice.
• From the occupational case formulation, the post holder will make recommendations to and access support from appropriate professionals and agencies or deliver Occupational Therapy interventions with the aim of gaining or restoring a balance of occupational and/or life roles for the individual.
• To participate in the duty assessment and weekend cover rotas operated by the Community Mental Health Team on a pro rata basis.
