Following the merger and formation of the new Finance structure, exciting opportunities have arisen to work within the finance team as an Assistant Finance Officer. To work as part of the Income Team, assisting the Income Accountants in providing support on all financial matters. To also assist in providing financial information as and when necessary which relate to Trust issues.

Responsible to the Income Accountant, the post holder will be required to demonstrate initiative in dealing with queries from Managers, Doctors, Commissioners and other staff within the Trust.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

To work as part of the Income Team, assisting the Income Accountants in providing support on all financial matters. To also assist in providing financial information as and when necessary which relate to Trust issues.

Responsible to the Income Accountant, the post holder will be required to demonstrate initiative in dealing with queries from Managers, Doctors, Commissioners and other staff within the Trust. It is expected that the Income Accountant would make the majority of decisions, although the post holder would be expected to make suggestions and to support the Income Accountant in the decision making process.

The post does not have any direct supervisory responsibility, however the post holder would be expected to support the Income Accountant in training new staff in what is quite a technically demanding role.

The nature of the position requires that the post plays a role in the financial reporting of the Trust. High levels of IT skills are essential to deal with the wide range of systems used within the department

The nature of the post requires a high level of VDU usage. In addition, the monthly reporting cycle requires a high level of input for approximately 2 weeks out of every month, this can be extremely demanding at times.
