Summary
Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full Time, permanent. Location: Laverstock Care Centre, Salisbury, Wilts Pay: Commensurate with skills and experience, NHS Band 5 level equivalent - Newly Qualified Therapists will be considered. The Role: Hobbs Rehabilitation is an independent provider of specialist neurological rehabilitation to adults in the south of England. The role of the Speech and Language Therapist will be to work with the Hobbs multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality inpatient assessment and rehabilitation for patients with neurological conditions. This post will be based within an inpatient rehabilitation unit at Laverstock Care Centre, Salisbury, Wilts, treating adults with acquired communication and swallowing impairments. The role may also require the SLT to assist the team with the management of the outpatient caseload at our Winchester clinic and managing some community patients within our NHS contract in the New Forest, Hampshire. There will also be an opportunity to assist the senior SLT in developing an independent SLT outpatient service within the Salisbury or Wiltshire area. Duties and Responsibilities: Professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work. Assess patients with acquired communication and swallowing impairments, using a range of formal and informal assessments. Formulate patient-centered goals in conjunction with MDT. Create and provide one-to-one and group speech and language therapy intervention to patients with acquired communication and swallowing impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options. Evaluate patients progress using published outcome measures. Liaise regularly with the Hobbs MDT (neuro rehab consultant, nursing staff, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, rehab assistants) and wider care team. Maintain up to date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures. Write high quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients. Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video. Support and CPD offered: In-house dysphagia training if required. Regular speech and language therapy team meetings and cross-site Hobbs meetings Extensive programme of internal CPD activities. Support to access external training and CPD events Regular 1:1 and group supervision sessions. Annual appraisal with personal CPD objectives The successful candidate must have a full clean driving licence and be prepared to travel to training and community visits.
