Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic person to add to our dynamic team of Admissions & ophthalmology ward whopromotes a customer focused approach to receive patients and visitors to the ward, providing a courteous, responsive and effective first point of contact (in person and by telephone) for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, both internal and external to the Trustwithin Ophthalmology.

The role is to ensureto provide effective and efficient clerical and reception support the Ophthalmology wards, ensuring that administration processes meet the needs of all service users.

You’ll be liaising with both patients and clinicians on a daily basis so you need to be approachable, confident and caring.

We need individuals who can keep calm in our fast-paced environment, are able to prioritise their workload effectively and are happy to be busy and challenged.

· Promote a customer focused approach to receive patients and visitors to the ward, providing a courteous, responsive and effective first point of contact (in person and by telephone) for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, both internal and external to the Trust.

· Use judgement in responding to queries or taking messages. Ensure that all enquires are dealt with politely, courteously, promptly and professionally.

· Maintain good communication links with the ward team and otherdepartments.

· To ensure that all telephone calls are answered within the agreed time and in line with the Trust’s telephone standards.

· Redirect calls to other departments if necessary or when callers are misdirected.

· To arrange transport when required, clearly communicating with the nursing staff.

· Make outpatient appointments as appropriate prior to discharge in conjunction with the patients future care plans.

· Shift pattern Tuesday to Saturday
