Summary
RW Walpole Ltd are soft fruit propagators based in Terrington St Clement and are looking for a number of workers to join their busy team. Generally working from 0700 to 1600 Monday to Friday but flexible hours are available:
In the summer months you will perform duties associated with and directly to soft fruit picking. You will be required to distinguish the quality and ripeness of the fruit to ensure that only ripe berries are picked whilst also removing berries that are damaged. Ripe berries will be placed into trays and collected by a member of the team for delivery to the packhouse. This type of work requires walking, bending and repetitive wrist movement, whilst most of our fruits are covered by polytunnels you will still be working outdoors.
In the winter months you will perform duties associated with and directly to plant lifting and grading. You will be required to sort, trim and bundle plants ready for the despatch team to pack and ship. You will be on your feet for the duration of the day whilst you inspect and discard plants that do not meet specifications, you will also trim plants ensuring they are uniform and you will collate bundles by crown size.
Due to the nature of the work, the role will involve some lifting and bending so therefore must be stable on your feet. These roles are not customer facing. You will be working in our plant growing polytunnels / greenhouses, or outside areas. The ideal candidate will:
- Enjoy working as part of a small friendly team and have a positive "can-do" approach
- Have good attention to detail and speed
- Be happy working in varying conditions
These positions are offered on a temporary basis so you will need to be able to start work immediately. Your own transport is essential due to the location, however, we can provide static caravan accommodation for up to 65 workers.
