Summary


Due to internal promotion an exciting opportunity for a Band 6Alcohol SpecialistNurseis available. The alcohol specialist nurse team based with Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust is an integral part of the department of gastroenterology as part of Liverpool Community Alcohol Service (LCAS).

You will be employed by Liverpool University Foundation Trust and based both in the acute and community settings.

Here at Liverpool University Foundation Trust we provide nurse-led out-patient services to the local population, and provide support and liaison to our community partners, and referral to specialist services.

This is a post that would suit a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience of working in an acute hospital.

As much of the role involves assessment and treatment of alcohol-related problems with pharmacotherapyit is essential to be (or working toward) a non medical prescriber.

Working with this complex patient group will require good clinical skills and a positive and caring attitude.

Evidence of working autonomously is essential. The role will involve treating patients with alcohol dependence, liver disease, and cognitive impairment in nurse-led clinics across primary and secondary care.

There will also be the opportunity to undertake specialist clinical procedures such as fibroscanning.

Principal Accountabilities.

¨ Assess, plan, implement and evaluate, programmes of evidenced-based nursing care. (KSF Dimension. 7 Level. 4 )

¨ Provide expert advice and clinical practice. (KSF Dimension. 8 Level. 4 )

¨ Participate in the education and development of other staff members. (KSF Dimension. 2 Level. 3 )

¨ Work collaboratively and co-operatively clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivered. (KSF Dimension.5 Level. 3 )



Clinical.
• Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs. (KSK Dimension 7 level 4)
• Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records. (KSF Dimension 8 level 4)
• Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care. (KSF Dimension 8 level 4 )
• Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements. (KSF Dimension 18 level 2)

Education and Development.

• Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training and PREP requirements. (KSF Dimension 5 Level 3).

Clinical Governance
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others, participate in the development of same. (KSF Dimension 5 Level 3)
