Summary

Due to maternity leave an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Stroke Service at Ipswich Hospital. The secondment/fixed term is full time, for 12 months, commencing 24thJune 2024.

Band 6 developmental role would be considered.

You would work alongside the Clinical Specialist, and Specialist OT with the rest of the team, providing acute assessment and treatment in line with the Royal College of Physicians 2023 guidelines SSNAP Key Indicators, which includes early mobilisation and intensity targets.

Our stroke unit has 4 HASU beds and 24 ASU beds, and there is a strong MDT working ethos with daily board rounds to ensure timely assessments, inputs and discharge planning.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy work in an integrated manner, closely alongside the rest of the MDT. We also support the MDT stroke follow up clinic every week, for recent discharged patients. Groups run every day and we regularly have the support of the Rehabilitation Assistants to help deliver opportunity to practice during the in-patient care.

Sound clinical skills, good organisation and ability to work over weekends are all advantageous. Full support and team-work makes this a suitable opportunity for someone looking to upskill into the Band 7 role, continue their Band 6 experience or to return to the field of stroke care after working elsewhere.
