Reporting to:

The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

Introduction:
A gentleman in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support him with his family’s care needs, providing companionship, and personal care and supporting two of the family members to access the community.

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the family to manage their son & daughter’s support and meet their care needs independently.

The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet these.

The main duties to be included in this role are:
• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the family
• Provide 1:1 support to individual members as required
• Assist with personal care (changing pads etc...)
• Assist with general household duties (cleaning, laundry etc…)
• Ensure a structured set of activities is maintained, where required.
• Develop one-on-one interactions with the two family members whilst undertaking outings out of doors and activities around their interests.
• Communicate with the person’s family and wider support network.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback on any concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
• To be able to work as part of a team, as well as on an individual basis.

Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits:
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training provided if required.
