Summary
We have opportunities for joint Acute and Palliative MedicineTrust Doctors, based at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH) and also providing opportunities for community working in the Palliative Care service.
This is a one year post starting from 7th August 2024 (or potentially earlier) until August 2025.

Our posts offer an exciting and unique opportunity for candidates who are interested in a career in Acute or Palliative Medicine or other medical specialities. This will further develop your skills and gain clinical experience together with protected study leave time tailored to your specific needs and offer development in leadership, management, audits and teaching. There will be access to a study leave budget and the ability to attend additional training courses both internal and external.
It is envisaged you will gain a portfolio of competences and experiences that will enhance your future career and financial assistance will be given to allow you obtain an extension to your E-portfolio access.
You will have a designated Educational Supervisorduring your appointment and you may be able to attend the regional Acute Medicine or Palliative Care Regional Teaching.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
This role will split 50/50 between Acute Medicine and Palliative Medicine, to provide a unique opportunity for those wishing to pursue a career in either specialty.
Training needs will be discussed with an educational supervisor during an initial meeting, to take full advantage of the opportunities highlighted in the job description.
