Position Title: Conventional Lathe Turner/ XYZ controls
Location: Dudley
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Conventional Lathe Turner with experience in using an Ajax lathe with XYZ controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing one-off to small batch products, primarily for the lifting industry. The role requires proficiency in working with 3 and 4 jaw chucks, screw cutting on various diameters, and handling different materials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate conventional lathes, including Ajax lathes with XYZ controls, to produce high-quality components.
• Set up and adjust 3 and 4 jaw chucks to secure workpieces.
• Perform screw cutting on lathes, working with various diameters and threads.
• Produce parts from engineering drawings, ensuring all specifications and tolerances are met.
• Utilise all relevant measuring equipment to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy.
• Inspect and measure finished products using micrometers, Verniers and other precision instruments.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
• Apprenticeship served advantageous
• Proven experience as a Conventional Lathe Turner.
• Proficiency in operating Ajax lathes with XYZ controls.
• Skilled in using 3 and 4 jaw chucks.
• Ability to screw cut on lathes, handling various diameters and threads.
• Experience working with various materials (steel, aluminum, brass, etc.).
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good understanding of machining processes and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
