Summary

The following list serves to illustrate the scope and responsibilities of the post and is not intended to be exclusive. Working under the direct supervision of the Lead practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or nurse practitioner. Ensure that the patient is comfortable and confirming their agreement to the collection of the blood sample. Obtain blood specimens by performing venepunctures and fingerstick; collection of blood in accordance with training and procedures. Ensuring that the samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories and the correct information is added to patients clinical record. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy working environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations Maintain clinical areas Work collaboratively as part of the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters Maintain accurate records and data on Treatment Room activities, using our clinical system Work as an effective team member and promote a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach to health care Report and record any clinical incidents as per the Practice policy Attend performance and development reviews and complete all mandatory training as appropriate to your role Work additional hours to help cover holidays and sickness. Ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with policies and Caldicott guidelines Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.
