Our Step up service is a 6 bed supported accommodation service where we aim to give young adults the support and independence needed to thrive and continue into adult life. This role is based in hub, working with young adults who have not had the best start in life. We see this role eventually being able to go out into the community to accompany our tenants to events to help further promote their independence.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate full time Young Person’s Nights Duty Worker. To be responsible for Children in care, Care Leavers and other young adults aged 16 to 21 years old who are referred into Young Persons Services. You will have the commitment to reach out, even to the most challenging young people?
We located in Long Eaton (next-door to the train station and bus services). Working to a rota which includes 4 nights on 4 nights off, including weekends, and bank holidays. This will be a lone working position, but you wouldn’t be left alone till fully trained. Experience of working with young people is desirable but the ability to build rapport and encourage young people to make informed, good decisions is what is most important.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Build effective relationships with young people referred into and living at the service.
• Complete sign-up paperwork for people moving in.
• Encourage young people to problem-solve and identify coping strategies when experiencing trauma, distress, self-harm, anger.
• Deliver activities promoting social engagement, healthy life skills and effective shared living.
• Liaise with Social Workers and Leaving Care Workers, probation workers and police when required.
• Maintain all records in line with internal Framework reporting and recording standards.
• To assist with completing tasks on support plans with young people.
• Complete welfare checks and resident at risk checks.
