Summary

‍‍ Non case holding Social worker in Complex Safeguarding Team - BARROW OR KENDAL, WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

Small supported core work caseload - they will never been responsible for a case hold or the lead on the case- will always be a lead professional.


The Complex Safeguarding Team in Westmorland and Furness supports and assesses children and young people at risk of exploitation and those who are reported missing. The team undertake the Child Exploitation (CE) risk assessments in multi-agency meetings and work alongside case holding Social Workers. The team also completes Return Home Interviews (RHIs) and will be starting to undertake the Stage 1 missing meetings.

As the Complex Safeguarding Social Worker you will support the Team Manager to provide leadership, direction, advice and guidance to the Child Exploitation workers. You will lead on the coordination of missing children and young people in Westmorland and Furness, chairing Stage 1 Missing Meetings and leading on the development of safety plans for some of our most vulnerable children. You will chair Child Exploitation Risk Assessments meetings and will deputise in the absence of the Team Manager. You will be involved in the delivery of training to partner agencies around Child Exploitation and Missing and contribute to the development of our response to children who both at risk of exploitation and missing in Westmorland and Furness. This role also co-ordinates a small caseload of more complex cases, working alongside case holding social workers to complete direct work with young people and families.

We are looking for someone who has extensive working knowledge and experience of supporting children at risk of exploitation, early intervention programmes and supporting colleagues in this area of work. Candidates must also have experience of partnership and multi-agency working. You will also work alongside the Social Work teams and a wide range of partner organisations to ensure effective joint working.
