Summary


We are seeking a kind, respectful and inspirational Health Promotion Practitioner Specialist to work within the Here for Health team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH).

We use an evidenced based Lifestyle Medicine approach to support people in the self-management of health behaviours to prevent, reduce and delay the need for care. Using recognised behaviour change skills and techniques to create and sustain lifestyle changes.



Support people to eat more healthily, stay active, sleep better, improve social connections and mental health, and reduce harmful substance use. Considering broader factors impacting on individuals’ health and wellbeing and being able to promote and refer to a variety of resources and community services for specialist support.

The successful candidate will have recent experience in utilising motivational interviewing as part of their professional practice alongside the knowledge and skills to provide appropriate health promotion information and support to both patients and staff. Ideally being trained as a stop smoking practitioner.

You will be working across professional boundaries with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to have a positive impact on the future health of the populations we serve. An ability to work across organisational sectors with external partners is an essential element of this role. Experience and passion for addressing health inequalities is desirable and a determination to work toward inclusive practice essential.

This diverse and exciting role will give you the opportunity to further enhance and develop your health promotion and motivational interviewing skills; work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running and on-going development of the service; play a key role in the mentoring and professional development of other team members; undertake projects and coordinate health promotion campaigns and student placements.
