Summary
Moorfields Eye Hospital invites applications for the clinical fellowship posts for specialist training in the Vitreo-retinal Service. This will involve the management and follow up of patients with VR diseases presenting to the VR Service.
We are looking to recruit to multiple posts, with the earliest to begin from September 2023.
The successful applicant is required to be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice. Possession of FRCOphth/MRCOphth or equivalent ophthalmic qualification is necessary. Applicants should be at Specialist Trainee grade or equivalent and be near to/ completed their higher specialist training in Ophthalmology. You need to evidence significant experience in VR surgery by the time of commencement of the role as they will be required to work independently as well as under supervision and be able to run theatre lists for the service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILTITES
• Participation in a 1 in 7 on call rota covering all aspects of Vitreo-Retinal emergency work.
• Undertaking clinic and elective surgery which may include outreach clinics or theatre as part of set timetable.
• Supervision of the work of junior medical staff in the VR Clinic and VR Emergency and active participation in both formal and informal clinic teaching.
• There will be opportunities for undertaking clinical research.
• To perform lasers for the VR Service.

Junior Medical Staff in the service currently includes two North Thames Specialist Registrars (Fellows) sub-specialising in Vitreo-retinal, five other Vitreo-retinal Fellows and five Specialist Registrars.
