Summary
Personal Assistant required for a fun loving, non-speaking five-year-old autistic boy who with an intellectual disability who lives in St Columb.
He is seeking someone with whom he can build a positive relationship and who can provide him with support at weekends and during the school holidays.
A personal assistant will enable him to participate in 1:1 activities with a trusted adult as well as enjoy days out with his family. He occasionally uses a buggy for safety reasons and needs constant supervision in order to keep him safe. Some personal care may be required, due to his young age.
He likes to be active and loves soft play areas, trampolines and swimming, although he can become dysregulated in very busy environments.
The rate of pay is £12.00 per hour, plus mileage and expenses.
A full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are essential.
Four hours per week are available, and this is flexible.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
All offers of employment are subject to the successful candidate undergoing an enhanced DBS check, which will be facilitated by Cornwall Council.
