Summary


We are looking for conscientious, hard-working, caring individual to join our team as a Radiology Imaging Assistant within the MRI department at Ipswich hospital. Ipswich MRI department is vibrant busy unit with a varied work load of in-patient and outpatient scanning.

It is essential that you enjoy working with people and have great communication skills.

You will be required to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, be patient focused showing empathy to their needs.

Duties will involve assisting the Radiographers working in the clinical area, to welcome patients and prepare them for their scan and supporting the radiographers and patients during and after imaging procedures.

You will be required to perform clerical and administration duties.

All training will be provided for this role.

Experience of using IT systems is essential and previous hospital experience would be desirable.

This is a 37.5 hour full time post which includes long days, 7am to 8pm, over 7 days.
• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in support of the effective and caring provision of imaging services to the patients and clients.
• Greet patients on their arrival in the department and to arrange the undressing of patients, assisting where necessary, whilst ensuring their dignity and independence and treating them with respect.
• Deal with telephone enquiries in an efficient and professional manner, relaying information accurately.
• Make and agree booked appointments for inpatients/outpatients as required.
• Enter and maintain accurate patient information into imaging systems, radiology management system, and patient information system and archive databases.
• Assist with the organisation of inpatient appointments
• Support radiographers in setting up the MRI environment for scans and caring for patients during their attendance.
• Assist the portering service with the transfer of patients and material between the Imaging units and the wards, clinics, other departments, stores etc
• Assist with the safe moving and handling of patients from premature babies to patients with a range of physical conditions and health needs including lateral transfer from bed to table, chair to table, sitting forwards in bed and standing and walking.
• Assist radiographic staff with positioning of patients prior to examination and to pass on relevant patient information.
• Support the radiographers and clerical staff in the efficient preparation of paperwork
