Job Overview:
As a Building Surveyor, you'll be responsible for providing expert advice on the repair, maintenance, and alteration of buildings. You'll be working on a variety of projects, from small repairs to large-scale renovations, and will be involved in all stages of the project, from initial concept through to completion.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Undertaking building surveys, inspections, and condition reports
- Providing advice on repairs, maintenance, and improvements to buildings
- Preparing schedules of work and specifications for repairs and maintenance projects
- Managing and supervising building works on site
- Advising on party wall matters
- Advising on building regulations and planning matters
- Advising on health and safety issues
- Advising on sustainability and energy efficiency issues
- Advising on procurement and contract administration
Here are the skills you'll need:
- A degree in building surveying or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction and materials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills, particularly in relation to building surveying software
- Chartered membership of RICS or equivalent is essential
