Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the cutting edge of the piloting of large-scale land use change projects which will attract national attention and deliver the outcomes of the Environmental Improvement Plan.

In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

The Landscape Recovery (LR) scheme is one of three Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes currently being developed in England: Sustainable Farming Incentive, an expanded Countryside Stewardship offer and Landscape Recovery. LR aims to offer long term environmental solutions and funding to deliver landscape scale change.

The Project Liaison Officers (PLO) will work with successful round 1 and 2 Landscape Recovery projects and partners to support the delivery of project development and implementation plans to build towards long term agreements. The PLO will be the primary contact for a project or group of projects.

The PLO will need to build relationships and work with external organisations to support the projects in developing their:

•Detailed project plan with milestones
•Regulatory requirements
•Project partnership including long term governance arrangements
•Project outcomes
•Baseline and future data collection requirements
•Funding strategy including private finance mechanisms and payment schedule
•Monitoring and Evaluation plan

PLOs will:

•Report on progress of allocated projects
•Liaise with Area teams, other EA colleagues and specialist advisors, external partners (Defra and ALBs, including Natural England and Forestry Commission)
•Carry out necessary monitoring or compliance visits.
•Support:
-colleagues with the testing and usability of Landscape Recovery scheme processes/guidance
-projects with conducting their responsibilities under the grant agreement.
The team
The Environment Programme Team is a positive, highly functioning team. We are normally around 17 people working with partner organisations to improve the water environment. We cover the whole of the East Anglia Area and work with most other Area Teams and many National Teams.

For these particular roles you will also be part of a supportive virtual LRO group with officers located across the country based around the location of other LR projects.
Experience/skills required
-Have excellent communication skills and will facilitate and influence internal teams to integrate our approach to support the successful delivery of LR projects by bringing people together, encouraging innovation and harnessing other’s experience.

-Be self-motivated, with great problem solving skills. You will have the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot and meet short and long term deadlines.

-You will need to work effectively as a team member and separately and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-Leadership qualities and skills that you are able to use to support your project and the wider LR team and motivate others around you.

-Ability to make decisions about priorities and undertake appropriate action to achieve planned outcomes.

-Excellent influencing and writing skills, tenacity and ability to take a long term vision forward.

-Have an understanding of the development of delivery of environmental projects such as River Restoration and NFM.
