A Building Safety Manager is required to ensure the safety of the building, primarily for the safety of all occupants of multi-occupied High-Rise Residential Buildings and designated building types (including Low-Rise Residential Buildings). The post holder will be required to be a registered named Building Safety Manager. Responsible for development, management, distribution of information in relation to the design, construction and maintenance of high-rise residential buildings.

Key responsibilities:

Take responsibility for the co-ordination and management of all matters relating to structural and fire safety for in-scope buildings to meet legislative requirements.
Oversee the safe management of BCC high-rise (and/or higher-risk) residential buildings within Housing and Landlord Services’ building stock.
Oversee the implementation of controls in respect of structural and fire safety on a day-to-day basis.
Effectively manage safety within the designated housing stock.
Ensure that controls are implemented in respect of building work carried out in the managed housing stock.
Manage resident engagement within high-rise and/or higher-risk housing stock, particularly in ensuring that safety concerns are recorded, monitored and dealt with appropriately.
Ensure that planned, preventive maintenance is carried out within housing stock.
Engage with relevant internal housing staff to ensure that roles are performed effectively in accordance with the Corporate Fire Safety Policy.
Oversee the successful implementation of corrective actions arising from fire risk assessments and audits.
Ensure that facilities for use by the fire and rescue service are effectively managed and maintained.

Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Extensive knowledge and experience of fire safety legislation and guidance, building regulations and technical standards.



Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining building safety issues in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to compile detailed reports on building safety issues.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
