Summary

This is a varied role which will incorporate ensuring the smooth running of the Rowan Room Caf and the events / functions that take place within the Centre. The initial terms are for 30 hours per week and will include weekend working.Closing Date for applications: 5 p.m. Monday 3rd June.

Overview of Role

This is a varied role which will incorporate ensuring the smooth running of the Rowan Room Café and the events / functions that take place within the Centre and maintaining a warm and welcoming service in keeping with the ethos of Oban Communities Trust. The role will manage Café and Events/Operations staff to ensure the café and catering services are fulfilling the needs of the events held within the building and visitors to the Centre.

Duties

The job entails, but is not restricted to the following duties:-

• Ensure the smooth running of the café and kitchen to high operational standards.
• Ensure the smooth running of room hires to delight customers and secure repeat business.
• Drive new business into the Café and meeting rooms to meet financial and operational targets.
• Monitor the operational requirements of the café, kitchen and events logistics teams to maximise financial return and optimise operational efficiency.
• Liaise with Financial Manager to ensure accurate invoicing / debt chasing ad information is provided in a timely manner for accurate financial reporting.
• Lead client liaison and ensure great customer service is being provided by the team.
• Ensure a consistent, high level of customer service is delivered by all the staff and volunteers, including collecting customer feedback to qualify this and continually improve.
• Manage the staff rotas to ensure resource is in place to meet expected service levels for the Café and Room Hire requirements.
• Ensure all staff and volunteers have formal induction and training for their role, including health and safety awareness.
• Liaise with assigned volunteers to develop a successful marketing and promotion plan for the Café.
• Work with the kitchen team to get best value from suppliers and develop the Café offering.
• Make recommendations to continually improve profit margins, service levels and efficiency.
• Ensure maintenance of all café & building machinery and equipment is carried out in line with specifications to service smooth running for clients and customers.
