Summary


The Estates Department operate and maintain, energy and environmental resources, controls, electrical and mechanical services providing power, lighting, heating, air conditioning to wards, outpatients and operating theatres. Estates directly impacts on patient welfare, frontline clinical care, infection prevention and control and energy efficiency and sustainability across the Estates Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for a committed highly self-motivated individual, the Royal Marsden is looking for a Building Services Supervisor to join the Estates Team in Sutton. This is a highly valuable broad ranging role, which will expose the Building Services Supervisor to the whole range of Estates services including mechanical, electrical, building & energy control systems and project management. The candidate must be highly proactive in developing their knowledge in all aspects of training and work undertaken, engage in active discussions about skills, techniques, methods and approach to tasks in order to develop as a skilled professional. Behaviour at all times must be conducted in a professional manner and consistent with Trust Values
• Be dynamic in their approach and flexible and adaptable to changing needs and priorities
• Work proactively and support both management and frontline estates staff in delivering an effective service
• Manage, control and update CAFM, ISO 9001 QMS, Estates handover records and drawings, Estates stores critical spares records and financial and procurement systems
• Monitoring and reporting on work and maintenance progress and cost impactions
• To have a full understanding of the Trust Financial and ordering system and procurement system
• Maintaining, reporting and presenting work progress reports to Estates Management staff

The role requires someone that has demonstrable people management skills and experience in the following areas, to help drive cultural change and increase productivity:
• Manpower and talent management
• Change management and successfully implementing performance improvement and disciplinary policies
• Successfully managing customer expectation
• Technical/engineering competence and pervious hands on practical experience in order to provide staff with guidance and solutions on how to undertake work safely and effectively

The postholder will:
• Work proactively in delivering an optimised service
• To undertake on-call and overtime including weekend work from time to time
• To use their skills and opportunities to enhance the service
• Delegate work and tasks and maximise productivity within the trade team
• Maximise value from subcontractors and specialists.
• Take a proactive approach to identifying any defects and recommendations/solutions
• Follow through any outstanding works /defects with the aim of closing them out /minimising risks and protecting the long-term interest of the Trust
