Summary

Job Title: Teacher of SEND with Speech & Language Specialist

Salary Scale: MPS/UPS

Start: Immediately & September 2024

Pay: Ranging but typically £600 - £1000+ per week {potential to be more with SEND Allowance}

Job Purpose: The Special Educational Need & Disabilities (SEND) Teacher will be knowledgeable in Speech and Language and assists in the Resource Base to ensures that students with speech and language needs make excellent progress and achieve their full potential through a high-quality, tailored curriculum, effective teaching, extra-curricular opportunities, and targeted pastoral care. This role adheres to national standards for Qualified Teachers and Post Threshold Standards where applicable.

Context: The SEN Teacher and Speech & Language Specialist, aimed in supporting students with EHCPs and developmental language disorder (DLD). Students attend mainstream classes with support and receive small group lessons in language, numeracy, and life skills. The SLRB will have 10 students from years 7-11 in September 2024. The SLRB manager oversees the provision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Uphold the Jesuit, Catholic ethos of the college.
• Plan and teach numeracy, literacy, and life skills lessons tailored to student needs.
• Create appropriate teaching materials for SLRB students.
• Teach mainstream classes as required.
• Collaborate with the SLRB team to set and review termly IEP targets.
• Monitor and track student progress using various platforms.
• Prepare for and attend students’ annual reviews.
• Conduct small group pastoral interventions.
• Support SLRB students in mainstream classes according to a structured timetable.
• Manage the day-to-day running of the SLRB, addressing pastoral concerns and liaising with parents.

• Reflective practitioner.
• Seek support and advice when needed.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
• Provide LSA support, cover, or supervise students as appropriate.
• Upper Pay Scale colleagues will contribute further to the college as agreed with the Headteacher.
