Summary


The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled professional person to join the award-winning bereavement, medical examiner & mortuary services team as an Anatomical Pathology Technologist.

Are you a highly organised, compassionate and innovative individual with a strong background in mortuary services? Are you seeking a challenging role where you can uphold and enhance the care we provide to all our deceased patients and our bereaved and uphold exceptional practices and exceed expectations? As the Anatomical Pathology Technologist, you will support and contribute to the day-to-day operations of our mortuary facilities at both Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital, ensuring the efficient and respectful care of our deceased patients. You will work closely with a team of dedicated mortuary team, bereavement and medical examiner service, bereavement midwives, spiritual care and funeral directors, amongst others, to deliver exceptional service to all concerned. As well as patient care, you will support in the management of fail-safe running of the facilities and all equipment.

Your expertise, skill and experience will also enable you to partake in the post-mortem service at the Trust and be a developer and provider of ongoing education and training across the Trust as needed.

You must have a RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology and have demonstrable experience of working in a mortuary setting. Experience in high risk post-mortems would be welcomed.

You will have good technical knowledge of mortuary policy, procedure, and human anatomy. As well as a good understanding of health and safety legislation and working in compliance with HTA guidelines.

You will feel comfortable producing and completing Risk Assessments, vertical and horizontal audits, reviewing SOPs and using Q-Pulse as QMS.

You will be a resilient individual, you will have the ability to deal with difficult situations and manage sensitive information securely. You will have the ability to take an organised approach to your own workload, working individually and as part of a team, whilst dealing with conflicting priorities and ensure a patient care focused approach.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Continual growth of our service means we have a vacancy for an Anatomical Pathology Technologist; the successful candidate would join our small team of two mortuary techs, an assistant and the mortuary manager.

The successful candidate will work alongside the mortuary manager and the mortuary team in developing and delivering exemplary services and be vital in the further innovations and enhancements in our service to all those who are part of the journey when a patient dies at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a member of the team, you will embody the Trust values throughout all you do, living and demonstrating the values and remodelling these vital positive traits and behaviours to our team and the wider Trust population.

The APT will join the on-call roster when they have attained a sufficient level of competency. Participation in the on-call roster would entitle the candidate to an standby and on-call payments.

The role of the APT is demanding and will require physical skill, dexterity and exertion and would suit someone with a proven track record of resilience and independence.
