Summary

Manpower is recruiting a Switchboard Operator on behalf of our public sector client the NHS.

Location - Bridgend
Job type - Temporary
Hours - Part time as per rota across 7 days.
Hourly rate- Weekdays £11.45 | Saturdays & Nights £16.14 | Sundays & Bank Holidays £20.95

The Role
As the first point of contact for the service you will be responsible for providing a responsive and efficient switchboard/information service 24/7 to all service users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering incoming calls both internal and external
  • Adhering to policies and procedures
  • Understanding organisational functions and medical terminology
  • Responding to emergencies and alarms
  • Maintaining and updating call rotas and records
  • Testing emergency procedures and systems
  • Operating access control systems

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to speak Welsh at an intermediate level is ESSENTIAL
  • Driving licence and access to your own vehicle is ESSENTIAL
  • Be able to work any shifts as the service operates 24/7
  • Experience in a call handling role/fast-paced customer service environment
  • Knowledge of switchboard processes, policies, and information systems
  • NVQ in Customer Services or Call Handling (or willingness to undertake)
  • Excellent communication skills and clear speaking voice
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment with frequent interruptions and a high level of background noise
  • Ability to work unsupervised and under your own initiative
  • Friendly and helpful disposition
  • Ability to speak Welsh at an intermediate level (essential)
