Do you have an interest in the outdoors?

Would you like to be in a role where you can make a real difference to the environment in which Newark and Sherwood residents live?

We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working person to join our Street Scene team as an Apprentice. In this role, you will be working with an experienced team who really care about the role they play in making Newark and Sherwood Cleaner, Safer and Greener. You must be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions, enjoy working as part of a team and to accept varied duties and to be flexible in your approach to work as you will be working with our Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing and Action Teams.

This will allow you to develop a range of skills, build your knowledge and will support you in your completion of a Level 2 Horticulture/Landscape Operative Apprenticeship. Completion will require attendance at a college during term time. This will be included in your working hours.

Your duties will vary and may change as you undertake your training but, during your apprenticeship, you will be involved in completing a wide range of horticultural, soft and hard landscaping, maintenance, graffiti removal, grounds maintenance, litter picking and street cleansing duties.

The successful candidate will hold a GCSE in Maths and English at E/2 or above, or equivalent, have a genuine enthusiasm for horticulture and landscaping and be committed to undertaking an apprenticeship qualification that has both practical and theory elements to it.

This is a full-time role working an average of 37 hours per week over the year. You actual hours will, however, vary depending on the time of year and / or the team you are working with. You may be required to start at 6.30am if appropriate and some weekend working may also be required.
