Summary

About the Role:




As an Engineering Technical Inspector, you’ll be responsible for ensuring our customers get the best possible service through an excellently maintained fleet. You'll travel on our trains and around our network, but you will mainly be based at our TrainCare Centre, to support failed units by navigating faults, finding solutions, and providing high-level mechanical/electric expertise.




You will report to our TrainCare Centre Production Manager and work alongside our maintenance team to keep our trains in service and fault find when things go wrong.


It’s an exciting time to join our engineering team, as we are transforming and developing skillsets, to help us get the right people, on the right units, at the right time.



You’ll need to work a range of shifts, from the early hours of the morning and including nights, plus weekends and Bank Holidays, it’s vital that you’re flexible and that you live within a 60-minute’ drive of our Allerton TrainCare Centre in Liverpool.

Key responsibilities:




This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

Team Player - You’ll produce reports, provide feedback to other colleagues and work as part of the bigger team.
Problem Solver - You’ll play a big part at our TCC and outstations to complete fault finding and repairs of our rolling stock.
Safety First - Ensuring compliance with all working instructions, standards rules and regulations, whilst assisting in the refuelling and service of our trains in various Train Care Centres.
Reliability Enhancements - Helping to improve the reliability of our trains, through regular maintenance and servicing.
Expert - navigating faults, finding solutions, and providing high level mechanical/electric expertise.
About You:




We expect you to have good technical knowledge Apprentice trained or an NVQ level 3 –in mechanical/electrical qualification and have previous experience working on train systems, including electrics, hydraulics, air systems, diesel engines and fault finding. What’s important is the ability to work as part of a team and to be able to think on your feet, in sometimes demanding situations.

Safety Commitment - Prepare for a safety critical medical will demonstrate your commitment to working in a safe working environment.
Initiative – Experience in managing workload and showing initiative where necessary.
Teamwork - Someone who is hardworking and confident in their engineering abilities to work with the wider teams.
