Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist with a passion for Oncology to join our team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Our cancer services based at Charing Cross offers a unique opportunity to work in a leading specialist cancer centre. We offer the most up-to-date chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, which leads to one of the best survival rates in the country. In this specialist role, you will be providing high quality therapy to inpatients with cancer. You will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team including palliative care, neuro-oncology and respiratory therapists as part of the integrated physiotherapy and occupational therapy team.



We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and passionate therapist with excellent leadership, communication skills and advanced clinical skills, to join the team and deliver high quality, timely care. You will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, has enthusiasm and has the ability to learn and develop new skills.

You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in oncology, possessing highly specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as is the ability to promote the role of therapies and the implementation of evidence-based practice. In addition to the clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the therapy service and the team. You will be supported by the clinical lead physiotherapist with your clinical and professional development.

• The post holder will be part of a therapy service meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a senior member of a committed team they will be responsible for providing an advanced standard of physiotherapy care to oncology and palliative care patients at Charing Cross Hospital.
• The post holder will assist the multi-disciplinary team by contributing to the planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluation of the physiotherapy input to the Trust’s oncology service. The post holder will be a resource for specialist advice to the physiotherapy service and other professions for this specialty area. Supported by a Clinical Lead and Clinical Service Lead, this post holder will have the opportunity to participate and lead in quality improvement and service development projects.
• Although directly employed by Imperial college healthcare NHS trust, this post is also one of a network of over 8000 Macmillan health and social care roles that Macmillan supports across the UK.
