About the Role:
As a Support Worker/Buddy, you'll have the rewarding opportunity to work closely with a very happy and chilled 13-year-old male who has Global Developmental Delay and Autism. He lives with his loving family, including his parents, brother, and family Labrador. Your main role will be to provide support primarily during school holidays, encouraging community engagement, and fostering independence outside of the home environment.
Main Duties:
Create a supportive and nurturing environment
Encourage and facilitate participation in new activities
Provide guidance and assistance as needed
Flexibility in accommodating occasional wheelchair use
Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual at all times
Person Specification:
Essential:
Excellent communication skills
Positive attitude towards disability and a willingness to learn.
Flexibility, reliability, and punctuality
Respect for confidentiality and privacy of the individual and their family.
Ability to accept responsibility and respond appropriately in emergencies.
Sense of humour and mature attitude towards work.
